![]() ![]() It was such a joy to watch and you're such a star," Brooke Lynn Hytes added. It's not something that everybody can do. "What you did was not an easy thing to do. It was so funny, loved it," Jaida Essence Hall said. "You going for the Mike Tyson joke knocked the wind out of my body, left me completely breathless. And this runway look is my favorite of yours so far," Traci Melchor said. I sensed that Manny might not be comfortable around drag queens and that could have turned really easily into something kind of hateful and mean, and it never was. "As Manny Pacquiao, you delivered a one-two knockout out punch. Melinda got praises during the episode ultimately giving her the win this week. I think I over extended myself the past couple of weeks," Melinda said.Īfter their talk, the nine remaining queens were up for Snatch Game where they are tasked to impersonate a celebrity and interact with other their fellow contestants in a game. "I want to please, please, please, extend my humblest apologies to all of you, if any of you felt disrespected by my actions, by my words. Later on, Melinda apologized and promised that she will continue to fight for her spot. "Next week, I'm hoping that Melinda is in a better headspace because after seeing that side of her, I feel like maybe I made the wrong decision," Kiki said. In the fifth episode aired Friday, things got tense as the other queens felt that Melinda did not deserve the save as she showed a defeated attitude in the previous week.įellow Filipino queen Kiki Coe hoped that Melinda would bounce back to prove her worth in the competition. ![]() Screenshot from WOW Presents Plus.įilipino drag queen Melinda Verga won the iconic Snatch Game challenge of "Canada's Drag Race" as Manny Pacquiao. If you're not doing that, then you're not a fan of drag, because drag is rooted in people of color and trans people, and if you're sending hate or racist comments, it's just not what drag is about.Melinda Verga as Manny Pacquiao. You need to speak out for people of color, you need to be amplifying the voices of trans people and people that don't have this platform. If you're going to be on Drag Race, you need to amplify voices and not send hate. One thing I've noticed - obviously it's been going on for years - people of color get so much hate on Drag Race just for being there and being themselves, saying things that a white person would get away with but getting so much flak for it. ![]() If this had been the other way around, Pangina would be getting so much hate because it would become a race thing. There could've been a funnier joke, a funnier punchline. We've all seen the Rita Baga "thirsty" Golden Girls wig and all that, which was camp. But, there was always someone who had their eye a little bit more, so I was ready to make the focus myself. I know I'd just won that week, and I feel like throughout the competition I'd done really well and deserved to be in the top more often. I thought it was a great way to not be overlooked by the judges anymore. But, whenever I got up to that box to pick the lipstick, I felt like I'd regret the decision and I owe it to myself to think for me, about me, for once in my life. I was almost worried about everyone else in that situation but myself when I was talking to her. I was worried that Pangina would feel like she was letting everyone down and that I'd get backlash. One thing about me though that's a big difference between my first season I'd been on and this one, I wouldn't make those kind of choices or risks, and I'd always be thinking about someone else's feelings. As soon as I knew that everyone else was in the bottom, I had her name pretty high up on the list. I just felt Pangina wasn't playing the game as fairly as possible, as a judge well should have been playing the game.
